Established 1993:
Twentieth Century Antiques specialises in Twentieth Century Decorative Arts and Antiques, Classic Scandinavian furniture and Modern British art. There is a strong emphasis on classic furniture by the most important designers of the Danish Modern period, including Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Borge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjaerholm. In addition, there are wonderful examples of furniture from the Arts and Crafts Movement and Glasgow Style, carefully chosen to complement the Scandinavian pieces.
Items range from rare and highly sought after designs to pieces by lesser, and sometimes unknown, designers. Of upmost importance is that all my items are selected for their style and quality. All my pieces are original and vintage and I always strive to buy examples that are in excellent condition. I work with a team of highly skilled upholsterers and furniture restorers to ensure that all items are ready for your home.
My approach to retail is to allow clients to make informed, confident and happy decisions. I have over 25 years experience in dealing with a wide range of customers - private individuals and collectors, international dealers and institutions - some purchasing for pleasure, others for investment.
I understand that it can sometimes be difficult for clients to purchase online, items they have not handled. As such, I am always happy to provide more photos and full condition reports.
I offer a specialist sourcing service, drawing on a network of international contacts that I have built up over the years. I am happy to work with architects and interior designers. I have been fortunate to work on some amazing projects, including Jorn Utzon’s ‘Ahm House’, Arne Jacobsen’s Danish Embassy, London and more recently an Arthur Elrod Palm Springs Midcentury home.
